Christmas Puzzle 2022
This year's annual Charity Christmas Puzzle has now been posted, and is available to download.
This, the 32nd annual Puzzle that Gordon Gray has set, has a theme designed to help completion and will appeal to people who enjoy doing Crossword puzzles, such as in the Daily Telegraph (though it is not a Crossword puzzle). Puzzlers have plenty of time to find the answers and Puzzles should be returned, with donation, by 29 January 2023.
Gordon has posted Puzzles to those on distribution list, so these should be received in the next few days. Anyone else who would like a copy of the Puzzle can access it from the web at www.christmaspuzzle.uk. Alternatively puzzles can be collected from St Mary's Eaton Bray.
All the money you donate, except for the prize-money, will go to charity.
Any corrections will be posted to the blog and to the corrections page.

,Shirley Jones says:Hi all Wonderful to once again receive the puzzle. I am slightly discombobulated over 14c as my Chambers offers up only one word to fit (and the one I would first think of) but not spelt as per the letters offered. Anyway I usually get something or other wrong because of a lack of attention to detail at the eleventh hour so this year I am going to submit much earlier than normal and hope it is just my old 10th edition that is failing me. Good luck to one and all and Merry Christmas. Thanks Gordon for the continued hard work and entertainment. SJ

,Diana Platts says:I'm with Shirley Jones on 14c, although both spellings appear on different pages when typed into search engine. It took me forever to decipher the theme, but once I got it, it was so obvious!

,Peter Reed says:Is it possible to submit my entry by email? I live abroad where a visit to the post office takes me over half an hour and where the post is unreliable, at best.

,Chris Roberts says:I've done about half of this so far and am absolutely nowhere on the theme. It is really frustrating me trying to puzzle that out ðŸ˜

,Diana Platts says:Peter Reed: I'm guessing you could scan and email your answer sheets?
December 15, 2022
,Peter Reed says:That is exactly what I was hoping would be acceptable, coupled with a bank transfer.

,Al McNicoll says:Loving the puzzle, as always - and lovely to see Mission Possible on the list of supported charities. In previous years I have always assumed that there would be no duplicate words amongst the answers, but I can't see anything anywhere that makes that explicit. Can anyone confirm or deny?

,Gordon says:Al- you are quite correct. There is an unintentional duplication which i have decided to leave unchanged. Gordon.

,Al McNicoll says:Thanks, Gordon. It doesn't take away from the puzzle in any way. Thanks again for a fantastic piece of festive fun.

,Bill Brakes says:Thanks Gordon. The theme was a long time coming, but for anyone who hasn't got it yet, be assured the penny will eventually drop! Pleased to see that the (most unexpected) duplicate answers appear correct!

,Peter Reed says:So what email address should I use to submit my entry by email?

,Chris Roberts says:Am I allowed a hint to this theme? Can't understand what it could possibly be

,Stephen Baines says:Congrats on your BEM award, Gordon, thoroughly deserved. Ive completed the puzzle, very enjoyable as usual, and what joy when you spot the theme. Having said all that I still haven't worked out the relevance of 23-15, 8-1. No doubt it will come to me, just being a bit slow. Happy New Year!

,Gordon says:Just to inform you that a copy of the Answers it should arrive by the end of February postal service permitting. Gordon
